Orangery, Stone Allerton

The challenge was to design a contemporary efficient extension to a traditional “farm-house” style house located in the centre of a traditional Somerset village.

There existed a uPVC conservatory on the back of this large farmhouse property and a radical glazed design was put forward by Collier Reading in conjunction with the owner. A flat roof with a central lantern and aluminium bi-fold doors produced a slick modern and efficient solution.

Extensive external works were incorporated into the overall design and detailed working drawings produced to ensure that the project went smoothly and within budget.

We assisted in recommending a competent local contractor who was able to work with the client and architect to produce a stunning end result which was “highly commended” in the Local Authority Building Control Awards.

Contemporary Extension, Collier Reading Architects in Wells

We carry out all sorts of extension ranging from a porch to a large 2 to 3 storey major refurbishment and enlargement to transform an existing property, and have many examples of how extending your property can often be much more cost-effective than moving.

Sometimes you can be too emotionally close to your own house and we can provide ideas and advice at our free initial visit along with outline cost figures.

Whether your property is old or new we are able to assist with the whole route through approvals and construction and wish to help make this journey both safer and less arduous.
