‘How Wells Cathedral survived the Reformation’

Today the office undertook a very informative tour of Wells Cathedral on ‘How Wells Cathedral survived the Reformation’, which included a tour of the Nave, Tower and Choir as well as the Cathedral Library.

It was a fascinating tour explaining the period of reformation in Somerset, the disastrous fate of Glastonbury Abbey and role which Wolsey and Thomas Cromwell played during this period.

The tour of the Library also provided an insight into the Lindisfarne Gospels and Henry VIII Dissolution of the Monasteries leading to the production of the ‘Great Bible’.
