Bespoke House In Glastonbury

Collier Reading Architects have recently been granted planning permission for a bespoke new build house on the outskirts of Glastonbury, Somerset.

The client approached us to design an innovative and sustainable house which would take full advantage of the fantastic location and view towards the Glastonbury Tor. Due to the complex nature of the “L” shaped site, the building will wind its way up and around with different functions occupying various split levels.

The resulting design is both pragmatic and interesting, creating a sleek and modern house, focusing on distinct functional areas and utilising modern technology including a ground sourced heat pump. The building fabric consists of traditional masonry construction, with timber cladding and render facades and a flat sedum roof, which will help enable the building to actively blend into its surroundings.
